    Default Underwater series

I've been working on some underwater scenes again for a series I want to do in encaustic wax. This was taken at Paynes Prairie State Preserve near my home in a boggy area that is now filled with water thanks to weeks of much needed rain. Pretty much out of the camera except I added a slight Topaz Simplify for a little boost in saturation (very slight).

This is a wonderful evocation of a pointillist painting!! And very impressive to capture an abstracted look in camera.

I'm not sure that I see it as underwater, though -- I'm seeing a reflection??

What would you think about getting rid of the tiny white leaf in the ULC and the OOF twig that is going across the tree trunk in the URC?

My thoughts echoed Diane's comments. I can see a great series developing here with all that water can do, especially in a natural setting. I too wondered about the title of underwater, when it is obviously not "under." and I did note the ULC matter. on a more positive note, I am amazed at what you captured without a lot of PS work. Beautiful natural texture and mood. I like the way the sky blends in without overpowering or creating strong lines of contrast. The leaves help break it up to add interest. Looking forward to seeing more!

I really like it, great natural texture and the colors are very pleasing. I agree with the above suggestions.

Thanks, Diane, Hazel and Judy. I was thinking of what it would be like if you were underwater looking up I'll remove the leaf and oof twig (and the black ULC edge that I noticed as soon as I posted).

Hi Cheryl, this really does look like looking at the surface of the water from below. Very clever! The colors, textures, and lines all add interest. I like the fact that the foreground focus is softer.
