Hi Loi - I think this is your best image to date with good detail, sharpness and comp. IQ and processing both look good. Only thing I might do is a luminosity mask at about 30% to lessen the highlights and add a little richness. I would also selectively burn the bone slightly.

Hi Loi, I will have to run with Rachels advice on colour as I'm still away, but would echo the comments about processing, it's not that difficult once you start, LOL.

Good size drumstick, bet you don't get many to the bucket at KFC I think perhaps a few frames later you might have had that rasping tongue more extended and visible and personal feel would have added more to the actual content of the image. Occasionally it's best just to sit and watch for a few minutes, the lioness was happy and not going anywhere, then you can the gauge on that tongue coming out. The DOF looks right with a nice diffused BKG to separate the subject. I think you could try with a little off the top, perhaps going square?

Great view of the huge paw, and the buzzing flies add alot here. Although not appetizing to us humans, the spilled guts of the dead animal is kinda cool in a wild feeding behaviour context. Awesome image!

Hi Rachel, thank you for suggesting Luminosity mask. I tried it here on the RP. Just used the "overlay" and 30% Opacity setting, and I like the resulting image better. This was my first use of Luminosity mask!

Steve, I had the next image with the tongue sticking a little further out, but the lion or my lens also moved, so the overall comp isn't as good. So, I will just stick to this frame.

Daniel, thank you for your comments.

Loi - glad it worked and that you like it. I find it a valuable tool to have and use it fairly frequently.

Repost is spot on (at least on my laptop screen, will look again tonight at home).
Good call on the luminosity mask. It's a tool most modern photographers would do well to master, for landscapes and for wildlife/general travel photography.
The gore will not be to everyone's tastes, but it's not overly gory for me and depicts this natural behaviour well...dig the flies.
