Detail is amazing in the wings. A wonderful image. Were it mine , I would take out the bright leaf in the lrc. It keeps pulling my eye there.

Stuart: The wings are really impressive. The angle gives them a lot of detail. I only wish that they were against a totally dark background.

Hi Stuart, glad to see someone else posting an image of one of my favorite dragonfly species. As mentioned above, wing detail in terrific and I agree with removing the bright green leaf in LRC.

The dragonfly has been beautifully captured the focus and DOF is very good indeed. I have the same problem the little devils don't always land where you want them do they? Too late now but was it possible to take the image at a lower angle that would have given separation from the leaves.

Hi Stuart. I agree that the dragonfly is very nicely captured with good color, light, and detail. The background is a little busier than we might wish - you might consider cropping from the bottom to eliminate the bright leaves in both lower corners. This would remove those distracting elements and help to focus more of our attention on the cool dragonfly.
