John, I love the soft focus of the dahlia (one of my favorite flowers and they don't do well in Florida) and your choice of texture layers. The background looks like a painting. Lovely image

Very nice floral rendition John, love the strong complementary colors (so nice of nature to supply them) and the textures. I also see a very painterly look, which I like a lot. Very nicely done, thanks for sharing!

I too like the soft focus effect and the processing and texture works very well. A beautiful image!

Beautiful!! I love the diffusion effect. You say it was in camera -- I'm curious if it was a filter or a multiple exposure? Very well done, in any case.

Love the glow of the flower contrasting nicely with the texture of the BG. Very painterly.

Thanks everyone for the great feedback !

Diane, the image was made with a Lens Baby Muse on a D800. It is tough to duplicate an image with the Muse - like pushing/pulling on a vacuum cleaner hose. Lots of trial and error, at least for me.

I never would have guessed it was a Lensbaby -- it's a beautiful effect! (And some beautiful PP involved, I'm sure.) I had the Muse several years ago and now have the Composer (I think). Haven't used it in a while -- need to play with it again.

    You've inspired me! Thanks!
