    Gail, Beautiful calling pose. I think the DOF is perfect. Really liking the shore line in the background as I feel it gives great depth to the image.

    What a wonderful feathers details you have captured here.
    Excellent image Gail. Love the up turn open beak (calling pose),great exposure,low angle,lights,beautiful colors and composition.

    excellent calling pose, details and pose, I would crop tighter. If you had raised your rig a bit you could have avoided the shoreline for a clean water BG although the shoreline isn't that distracting as is.

    I think this is outstanding, just a great pose and I envy anyone who gets to get close enough to photo these beautiful birds.
    I like the horizon, it gives a sense of place for me.

    Killer shot Gail. One of these days I will visit the Loons and get my shot at them. I agree about the shoreline but I like it as presented as well. Just a different option. Love the dof and detail on the loon

    Hi Gail, love the detail on the head, good calling pose, and the low shooting angle workss well. I feel you have placed the Loon perfectly in the frame, and I do like the colour of the water.
