Here's another Western Grebe from my time out in NE Montana in May, from Medicine Lake National Wildlife Refuge. I think I was the only photographer and visitor there for the three days I was there, it was like my own personal refuge. Pretty awesome. The light was dull and overcast on this day, so I had to up my ISO to get any action.
Some noise removal, desaturation of the belly, sharpening, and some crop.
Thanks much for looking, and for any comments and critiques.

    Hi Melissa,

I love the flying water and the superb background. Nice action shot that could do with a little more sharpening IMHO..

Love the pose and the layered feathers.
That soft green BG is beautiful. The soft diffuse light looks really nice.
I like the flying droplets as well.
I think the face could use a bit more sharpening but otherwise an excellent shot.

Thank you Gail and Don. Another round of sharpening on the head, here. Hope it's better.

Really liking the colors in this one. I think the re-post is better and I am thinking the neck is a little soft because of motion blur. If this isn't FF I could see a a version with a little more room all around. Beautiful shot and it sounds like you had a few productive days..

Quite wonderful! Love the soft colors, the flying droplets and of course the shake. I think that the repost is great.

RP works nicely on this fun shot. It's full of nice details. Love the water droplets, BG and water trail under the body. Is that a catch light in the bird's eye or a water droplet?

My favorite grebes pose. Nice shooting angle, IQ & water splashes. Very well exposed. The re-post looks much better for me. TFS

    The repost fixed the sharpness.
I like the comp and the two tone BG.
The water drops give a nice sense of movement....

Repost is an improvement on an already great image Melissa. Love the colors, the low angle and definitely those water drops. I love those days when you are the only one there as much as I like shooting with friends, There is so much peace to be found out on your own
