    You must have your reason why you chose this dark background Jack and I respect it.
    However, I feel that a selectively brightened background would work better for this image.
    The bird looks nice with the crest up.

    Marvelous image of beautiful lady with magnificent dark background. Love the superb pose,nice colors,details,the way bird pops up against dark BG and excellent composition.

    I actually like the dark BG. Unique and makes the bird stand out well. The detail looks great and I like the rock perch and the raised crest. Well done.

    I like the idea of the dark BG here, makes the bird stand out, if it was a grown up then i would have liked a different BG however here this makes a lot of sense to me.

    Jack,

    I don't mind the dark background here, although I could see how this image might have a little more punch with a slightly lighter bg.

    The detail throughout the bird is nice, and the rock as a perch is a plus. I wish there was either more green (via the branch) or none at all.

    Hi Jack, great pose from this lady, and love the detail you have brought out on her. Yes, she certainly does stand out from the darker BG - works well, and if anything, I would add a bit to the RHS.
