    Default In The Garden

I was so fortunate to have been able to shoot a pair of one day old Oyster Catcher chicks this year thanks to my good friend for sharing the find. Sadly neither chick survived for some reason which seems to be more common than I ever knew. They were hatched in this beautiful nest area which I referred to a the Garden. I was hopeful to get more images of the raising of the chicks and teaching them feeding by the water but never got the chance. I hope you like this one as much as I do.

Sweet image, with beautiful habitat and great comp (I could imagine a slivver off the bottom). I can never get enough of these photogenic birds. Too bad about the chicks.

You have captured an excellent image. I often wonder how they survive with all the predators around....

I love the image, especially the eye contact on the adult bird. Too bad for the chicks.

Hi Cheryl, I reallly like the setting here, and it seems parent and chick are enjoying the warmth of the sunlight. Both OC's are well exposed, sharp, and great DOF in the overall image. I agree, a touch off the bottom wont harm the image.

Your forgot to post your techs.

Lovely image, and I too am sad about the chick. Darn predators. Very pretty spot to raise a brood. I agree just a little off the bottom and/or burning the mid-tones it just a bit to reduce the brightness.

OK some off the bottom and the right for balance and a slight brightness adjustment

Cheryl, stunning image of the parent and chick in beautiful habitat. Good light, perfect exposure, love the low angle view. Sorry to hear about the chicks. Loi

Gorgeous setting here, it's as much a star of the image as the subjects!! Beautiful throughout. Tough to hear about the chicks' demise, you got a great memento of one of them here.

The only thing I'd do, if you have it, is to add back a bit at left as I find the flower bud awfully close to the edge...

    This is so pretty.
Love all the colors and love your techs.
I agree with Daniel re the LHS. For some reason I noticed that bud almost touching the edge almost right away.
Well done and congrats on a lovely image,
    Gail

Thanks everyone and yes Daniel and Gail that is a great observation. In hind sight I guess I should have pulled back a tad but you know the thrill of the moment :)
