    Hi Steve,
The exposure and lighting are right on.........1 vote for not a huge fan of the BG......even though it is the environment! It's actually funny.........probably 10 years ago........this would have been a killer shot!.........while I think it is very good on the owl................technology and sheer #'s of nature photog's make the BG less than desirable. If it was my only shot........keeper........until I improve on it. The only improvement on this pic is the BG.

the separation from the bg has an almost eerie 3D effect.
The small branches are not as distracting as are the 2 diagonal large one's IMO

Hi Steve Nothing much you can do about the bg except working your around a bit You can try to keep some of the prominent branches from intersecting the head Will lessen the impact !!!

I do like how well the bird stands out form the bg Good placement in frame and all very sharp !!! Excellent !!!

Beautiful capture with excellent detail and gorgeous eye contact. The Bg is what it is and that is it's natural habitat. Personnally it does not bother me and while I love clean shots I also like this . Many thanks for sharing Steve.
