The image was taken by the back garden pond, I took this shot against the light, I thought the outlines of the aphids added a little interest.

The diagonal substrate with its color variations and the plain background set off the insect nicely. And yes, the aphids add interest.
I see little that could be done to improve an already fine image. But if it were mine, I'd probably clone out the few specular highlights in the wings. And I find the two dark blobs near the damselfly's tail distracting. I'd probably clone them out too.
Excellent subject sharpness, Jon. The composition works well and I do like the aphids (tho maybe not the one about to leave the frame). The eye looks like a glass marble. Wings look fantastic.
