    Another Orca surfacing to exhale.
For those interested, this is a young Male, his mother is the other Orca I posted by the lighthouse.
The females have much smaller fin's as you can see.
They track the Three Pods in the Puget Sound and know all of them by name.
There are about Fifty Orca's in the Three Pods that spend the summer in the San Juan Islands.
A great experience to go out and see them up close.
I have a photo of a Full breach, the stuff of dreams, but MUFFED it in the rocking boat!

It must have been awesome being on the water with these things surfacing around you! The spray looks sharp and I like the water streaming over the fin. I love the color of that water.

Hi Dan, I think I prefer the previous image, however I like the less busy BKG on this one as you eye is drawn more to the subject. I like the blow out of water and the bow wave created. I know you can get a bit more detail & depth from the water which may help, perhaps something to consider, however if the tail fine was not in shadow, then having more tone would have helped, looks a bit solid IMHO. Also just watch the halo around the fin. Perhaps a sliver off the top would then give you the third/two thirds ratio?

Hi Dan - nice view of the spray. I prefer the other image because of the great bg setting. There's a prominent halo around the fin.
