The young Common Tern chicks seem to love the wind. They are at the point of testing their tiny wings. Flight can't be too far off.

Hi Joe, I really like the forward wing position, and how the bill follows the shape of the top of the wing. Love the dangling feet too. Im undecided about the plant - in one way, it balances the image, on the other, removing it wont harm at all.

Well done Joe this is a great image. I love the wing position and composition.
I don't mind the plant but it does occasionally distract my attention from the bird.

I also notice that some areas of the foreground are sharp and other areas are out of focus along the same plane. Is this due to something such as vegetation closer to the camera or something in the post processing? I don't think this detracts from the Image I am just curios for my own learning.

    Joe:

The practicing pose is really neat, outstretced wings, dangling feet, angle in frame. Wish the near wing were down just a bit to give a cleaner look at bill, but minor.

I could see a version without the plant, as mentioned, and also one retaining the plant but lowering the saturation/luminosity just a bit so it visually recedes a bit more.

    Great fun.

    Cheers

Terrific pose and I vote to keep the plant!
I would clone out the faint OOF grasses that can just be seen on the RHS leaning in towards the center.
I too, am wondering if you did something to the FG or is that OOF blades of grass?

Wonderful capture, Joe. I love the wing position, shadow, full head showing. Great moment. I'm torn about the plant, but would probably keep it.
