Default Indigo Bunting Singing the Blues.

According to its plumage that is the genre of music it should be singing, but according to my ears it was sounding much happier than that! From a setup perch, and photographed from the comfort of my car parked along a quiet country road. I did notice this mullein was covered with webbing way more than I prefer on one side and somehow forgot to position it with the other cleaner side facing us.

Canon 7D + 500mm f4/ II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/400s., f/8, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, just about FF, eye work (darkened pupil).

That really is a stunning bird. We have people over here raving about canaries but this bunting is way nicer.

    Lovely shot.

As a lover of all kinds of arachnids, i think the webbing adds to the image ;)

Excellent colors, pose, perch & BG. Nice composition. I think this is the bet in your recent Indigo Bunting series.

Great pose and complimentary BG and perch. I would take a bit off the bottom. Super job on exposure.

Hi Dan, a well worked out comp here, and well timed to capture him singing to the fullest. Love the blues on this species too ( along with your bluebirds ). The finer feather detail shows up nicely, overall sharp, and Im fine with the 'web design' on the perch.

Stunning colours Daniel especially the bird colours. I also like the good feather detail and open beak. The comp and BG also work very nicely.

This has the "classic" feel to it. Like the essential indigo bunting singing image in my mind. Technically rocks of course...but would love a little background variation too.

Hard to critique this one! Great singing pose and HA.
Love the comp and the long tall mullein.
This is a personal preference issue but I find the green a bit overwhelming and would be tempted to decrease the brightness in the BG,

Well planned and perfectly executed ... agree with Gail on toning down and/or desaturating the BG a bit.

I personally like the BG color and the bird's color looks the best of the series for me.
Perfect timing getting the call just right.

I would love how to provide a perch like that for the bird to sit on in front of a perfect BG! Wonderful image, great comp, colors and sharpness. Loi
