    Default Hibiscus in the rain

I made this during the big rain July 4. I just used Clarity on the hibiscus and placed it over 2 textures. I wanted the clarity of the water drops to show up.

Very nice use of a single filter Judy. This worked really well. I love all the water drops on the flower and leaves, and the generally wet look all over. It seems to be drooping in the rain, but enjoying it!

Thanks Kerry. Yes it was pouring rain for a long time so it was drooping. We got 2.35" in about 4 hrs. but Friday we got 5" in 5 hrs. and there was a lot of flash flooding in town/county. We had more water in low parts of our yard than I've ever seen.

Different, and very nice! I like the colors and edge effects. It looks like its had enough rain already. Hope you all manage OK.

Ditto to above. The textures added a shadowing which made the drops stand out. Good use of a rainy day!

Very nice image and application, Judy. One of my favorite flowers.

I like the effects of the raindrops and textures.

We plan to put a few of then in the front next year when we landscape that area. We use to have them and I miss their beauty and shootability.

We've been drenched as well the past week or so. It's that time for the monsoons and Hurricanes!! But no snow again this year!

You have really captured the wet look with both the water droplets and the blotchy look of the textures! I agree with Kerry that this flower is glad for the rain, maybe it is the glow on the flower that creates this feeling.

Hi, Judy, it's amazing how descriptive this image is. You can just feel how much rain the hibiscus has gotten and although weighed down, how grateful. Nice use of textures

Thanks for the comments everyone! I worked on the toning of the flower for a while, it was pretty dark and dreary in the original but Clarity filter can work wonders on contrast and colors.

The water drained pretty fast in the area after it quit raining.

A beautiful shot. You did a great job with the water drops and the colors. I think reds are challenging. The textures work well. What do you mean by putting the hibiscus "over" the two textures? Lovely glow! I assume the clarity filter is in PS?

Sorry for the late reply Anita. I thought I had answered your question. Thanks for the comment. I selected the flower and then opened and combined two textures and pasted the selected flower on top of the textures. The Clarity filter is Topaz Clarity, it's and excellent filter, the latest one from Topaz. I think it came out in May.
