    Default Good Morning, Miss Sunshine

I have a very small patch of these wildflowers, Gaillardia, aka Indian Blanket, next to the house. The deer love them and it is always a race to photograph them before the deer devour the blossoms!

My one filter is Topaz Simplify 4, sketch.

interesting filter. my personal pref would be not so much a stark contrast between the flower and the background. Maybe lessen the blur just a bit, but that's just a personal pref. Like what the filter did to the Gaillardia. one of my favorite flowers, too.

Nancy, I love Gaillardia and I like the Simplify filter on this one. Colors are great. My deer love to eat everything that I love to photograph so I ended up putting everything I like to shoot into a small garden with a deer fence and letting them have the rest. It ends up being a pretty good arrangement.

Hazel, I always fuss over the background vs the foreground trying to get just the right balance in images like this. With all the flowers being the same color I didn't want the main flower to be lost in the sea of yellow. But you have a good point and it is the sea of yellow that is the impression I want viewers to see & feel.
Cheryl, I have almost totally given up with the deer and the chipmunks! I placed picnic table benches over these flowers in hopes the deer would go elsewhere, but next year I may get tougher!

Beautiful buttery yellow. I understand why the deer are attracted to them. Nice treatment. With regard to deer, I bought some arctic daisies as I was told that deer despise them. Of course they eat them first!

Mitch, thanks and ha!ha! on some nursery person thinking they know what a deer does and does not eat!

Lovely composition and selective focus on the one flower. The blacks work for me. I'd like to punch up the colors a bit. Nice work.
I spray my deer-susceptible flowers with organic Deer Fence . In the back of our acreage where we are planting small native trees and shrubs, we use wire fencing. My small veggie garden is surrounded by chicken wire.

Somehow I missed this before. Too busy making and working on new photos the past 10 days I guess. Very nice filter work and colors. I like the sketch effect.
