I was photographing a pair of wood ducks in Orlando, FL last month when the female flew up to a nearby tree branch. It was only a matter of time until the drake followed. I "upped" the ISO to get enough shutter speed - although I wished I would have pushed even more. At 4 fps, I was quite happy to capture this moment.
Wonderful action shot of one of my favorite ducks. Very well done. I'd love to see more of them here, but sadly, this area isn't among their usual hangouts.
Really great take off capture. Plenty sharp where it counts, and dynamic with all the water splash. Love the head and body angle of the duck as it strives for quick elevation. I played around with a couple of 8x10 crops vertical and horizontal and liked them for reasons. The head and body angle of the duck really seems to suggest a vertical composition, but also works well horizontally as shown in the OP. Is this pretty much straight out of camera or did you have to alter the bg elements a bit in post processing? Again, it's a dynamic flight shot of a gorgeous duck, and I like how you pushed the techs to get the action.
Hi Miguel, I really like these type of take off shots from water, the trailing water and splashes always portrays action. What a steep take off pose, lovely colours of the head standing out, and sharp where it counts. That BG works nicely as is, and I would leave your comp as is.
Hi Miguel, nice take off pose with the water splash. I'd suggest to darken the pupil a little bit and reduce the catch light due to I presume motion blur. Loi
