~I have been working on this project for the last few weeks. So far the chicks are healthy and the pair has been feeding the babies. It is a hard nest to shoot. As you can see in this shot, there is about 2-2.5 ft space btw the nest and the palm tree to the left. I am going to start shoot from the hardest angle soon and I hope to capture some better landing shots. It has been a tough week with all the rain we have, I had no choice but to shoot in a high ISO to achieve the minimum shutter speed that I need to free these guys in a frame. Enjoy and please share.

    Troy,

Looks pretty clean at ISO 10k. Lacking a bit of contrast and isn't tack sharp, but definitely a keeper.

What about opening up the aperture and decreasing the ISO? Or would that be too tough with that narrow of a dof?

The landing pattern is not the same each time. Therefore so it is as much luck as hoping it would land into the depth of where you set at as well as getting enough ss. 1/3200 is just barely enough for these guys. I am still trying to find the best combo to get the best landing shot. I am going to keep trying. With the 600mm focal length, I can only get 1 in the frame without getting clipped. Going wider will include the entire oof palm on the left. It is a trade off.

Pretty good for the ISO. I have a 1DX and it shows what you can achieve if you MUST have the shot. Great work

Very nice wing spread on this Troy. Tough shooting all around with the light and tight space. I wish that left palm tree wasn't there, but aside from cloning it out, I doubt there are other shooting angles that would work.
