I am hoping to amuse you with this image, since the week-end is near and it's time for fun! Taken in the Kalahari around lunch time sometime in 2012, ground squirrels chasing each other, there's sun and there's shade and the speed of my little subjects is just amazing, direction often unpredictable. After taking a few hundred images I was left with two or three, this is one of them...Processed some time ago, before Steve Kaluski taught me a couple of things...still, I tried to lift the shadows tonight and added some contrast, resized and resharpened. My setting at the time: Nikon D3S, Nikon 500mm, 1/5000s (because speed and camera hand-held ,no support but VR on, also subjects moving from sun to shade) F 7.1
Gabriela, this did make me smile! Too funny! Wonderful capture of the "flying" squirrel. Maybe just remove that small, dark speck in front of that squirrel.
They are so amusing these guys. Stunning timing and framing here Gabriela!!
Good exposure and sharpness in the harsh Kalahari midday light too.
Enjoy your weekend!
great action captured here! good DOF to get both the squirrels in focus. details look very good.
Looks like they just finished watching "Kung-fu Panda"
Oh Nancy, the speck is a little fly!!! Glad you all enjoyed this, will post some more from the squirrel series, soon...
My week-end begins at h13:00 today, yepieee! Going to visit some cheetahs with youngsters...that is, if we can find them...
Hi Gabriela, awesome image, perfect timing, big congrats on nailing this one.
Looking on the laptop you might ease off on the blacks, but that might be the laptop? If you have it, then moving the whole crop to the right might be better, so the ariel squirrel has more room to go into? Say perhaps half the space between trim & pebble on the LHS.
Cool image.

Post Production: It’s ALL about what you do with the tools and not, which brand of tool you use.
Hi Gabriela - Brought a smile to my face too. Nice job on the dof and timing. I'm betting a nice alternative is also just the one in the air as a vertical format.
Thank you all so much for your comments I am very happy to learn that you've enjoyed this image!
Steve, it is never your laptop's fault, it is my fault !!! Regarding the crop, I would have to add canvas and clone, unfortunately this is all I've got...So difficult to follow these little guys, they are faster than lightning. A dear friend is busy preparing a short video for UTube with these squirrels, I have given him all my video shots recently to see what he can do-will give you the link as soon as it has been uploaded.
