I have been photographing this pair of Bald Eagles religiously since 2008 and was unable to capture the mating until this Spring. I didn't expect any mating b/c the pair already had 2 young in the nearby nest. Maybe they are mating for recreation and not just procreation?
Canon 1D4, Canon 500L & 1.4

Feisol tripod, Jobu head
Sweet light, nice sharpness, and good DOF (I like your choice of f/10). This definitely looks recreational to me, but perhaps we should consult John Chardine.
Great catch with wonderful sharpness and tonalities!
What would you think about taking some off the right to go more vertical with the composition? I've never felt it was important to force an image into a certain aspect ratio; I like to let the subject dictate the crop. But you could add canvas on top to make it even more vertical if you wanted to -- that would fit the subject well I think.
The white-tailed kites I've been watching for a year were mating well into the summer last year -- maybe just pair-bonding?
Great exposure, lovely looking wing details the f10 worked wonderful here
The near square crop may even look nice with some taken off the bottom till the first branch. just a view
Marina, sweet light, perfect exposure, and sharpness on both eagles. I'm OK with the composition. Interesting behavior given that they already have chicks nearby! Loi
