    A common heron across much of Australia. Western Treatment Plant (Melbourne) a few weeks back.
    D800, 300 2.8, 1.7TC, f7.1, 1/1000, ISO200.

    What terrific light and an awesome setting. The bird is stunning against that blue, and has so many nice details in the feathers. Wish it had given you a tiny bit more head turn.

    The first 2 things that caught my eye were wonderful light and striking water colour, dream setting for any image
    the bird is nice , exposed good and composed nicely

    Very nice!! The vivid colours and low angle are very appealing. Nice "island" perch and water movement around it too. A better HA would have taken this over the top, and perhaps a bit of separation of the legs.

    Such a sweet foreground and background! Perfect exposure, keeping the white face from blowing but still bright. I like it!

    Greg,

    As mentioned above, the slightest of head turns would have been ideal. That said, you nailed everything else.

    Big fan of the smooth transition (in both tonality and color) between water and sky.
