This is a great pose and love the visible crown.
    Exposure looks good.
    The comp needs some tweaking.
I do not not how big of a crop this is but if you can, I would crop from the RHS to the thin OOF brown vertical branch, add a bit to the bottom and crop from the top to where the OOF thin brown vertical branch intersects with the thick OOF horizontal branch,

If you can get a good composition with this image and you have enough pixels on the bird then it has good potential for photographic competitions. Some may be troubled by the background being busy. It does not bother me. Well done.

Nice image of the bird and surrounding area. IMO the bright BG behind the bird hita a little hard and I would try and deal with the white branch to the right of the bird. Other than that I like the image very much

Very dynamic pose here, and I especially like the tail spread. Nice to see the visible crown. I'm OK with most of the BG as I love the vegetation...it's the thick branch in upper right corner and the thinner vertical one that are troublesome IMO. You could also try to lighten the top part of the darker eye just to make it more visible. What is the raspberry colouring on the throat?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Daniel I am not sure what the purple coloration is under this guys beak. Perhaps it was bug guts? Here is another edit I did.

I really like this version! Have you tried toning down the brightest areas in the BG? The bird is sharply-defined so it could be masked from any BG work.

Topaz ReMask is a great tool for things like that.

Wonderful capture showing the details. Having photographed many Eastern Kingbirds recently, one of their favorite treats are Mulberries and maybe the reason for the raspberry (mulberry) stains. One marking I have not noticed is the orange color on center of crown. Have you seen this on other Eastern Kingbirds?

Thanks for the kind words. I had no idea Kingbirds ate anything other than bugs. I have actually seen this orange stripe on these guys before.

Hi again Jason, I did a little research and found that the Western Kingbird does have the orange stripe and inhabits as far east in small part of SW Illinois. Nice you have them around you. Again, one great image.
