This was a challenge, changing the turkey to be red white and blue without looking cartoonish! I used Topaz Simplify and Clarity, adjusting the colors with the Clarity HSL sliders, then I did a little extra painting on it and added a nice texture from Spoon the Moon.

Very clever Judy. I like the high step and all the wildflowers as well.

I thought this was a bit dark so I lightened it a little. I also worked on the eye to make it show up better.

I believe Ben Franklin wanted the turkey to be the American symbol, not the Bald Eagle. Instead the turkey found its way to the Thanksgiving table! Wonderful bkgd of colors setting off the darker turkey nicely. I like the repost with the more visible eye and the turkey a bit lighter.

Thanks Nancy! I have to agree with the choice of the bald eagle as the national bird.

Yes, and I can't even imagine roast eagle with all the trimmings! Nice job on the transition, and your repost incorporates the suggestions I was going to make before scrolling down. Good concept and execution!

I prefer the repost. You did d a good job on making Mr. Turkey have the Fourth of July colors! Clever of you.

Judy, the repost is really nice. I especially like his strut and the wildflowers are lovely with the Simplify effect. He's a beautiful bird

Thanks Kerry, Anita and Cheryl! I was looking through some photos from my first trip (in recent years) to Cades Cove in 2008 and saw the turkey. I was inspired to see if I could change his colors a bit to fit the theme.

This sort of thing is difficult to do well -- you pulled it off very nicely! I do like the lighter version. Creative idea well done!
