Caught this young one a couple weekends ago. Used the 1DIV, 300 + 1.4 TC, ISO 800, 1/3200, f/8.0. HH. C&C greatly appreciated.

Yep, that's some bad hair alright :)

The exposure and composition look fine to me. The only thing I'd consider
would be cloning out the white items (I think I count 4).

    Don,

I agree with Doug's assessment and would only add..consider more room on the right. Often pleasing to add space to the direction the subject is looking towards. Maybe, take some off the left side too...this is subjective...lets see what others say. Nice detail and I like the exposure tech...especially the f/8 here. The picture is unique and different two great reasons to capture the moment. I am always looking for form, color or gesture and this has two of those three nailed - well done.

Don...I love the feather detail and especially the bad hair! The white items don't bother me too much, but I would agree with Jeff's suggestion to add a little space on the right. Really nice capture.

Wonderful selective focus on the subject, and I do love the hair!

I'm curious what the tree is. Bald cypress?? (This from someone who inhabits redwood country.)

Thanks for the comments. Diane, I would only be guessing as to the type of tree but I would say cypress. I'm new to the area but see this type in several Rookery settings and all over the swamps.
