Default Introduction - Matt in the Puget Sound

Hi, it's Matt here; I'm 33, I live north of Seattle, WA. I'm going to summarize my story: When I was a teenager, my dream was to be a nature photographer. A bunch of things happened, my life went a different way, I completely stopped doing any photography for many years...and then less than 1 year ago, some more things happened, and I realized that I must get back to photography. Some might call me crazy, but I have actually made it a goal to catch up and go professional someday. I'm aware of the loftiness of such a goal, especially for someone just starting out at 33 years old. But nevertheless, it is a passion, and photography completes me, in a way. So I am learning, practicing, and doing everything I can to advance toward my goal, while also having a blast the whole time

I am a regular on a different photography forum, which I love, but I am joining in on this forum as well, since there is more of a wildlife focus here. This will hopefully give me an opportunity to learn learn rapidly from other's experience and advice, while having lots of fun and perhaps sharing some things of myself as well. BTW, I am into all nature and wildlife, not just birds...though birds are addicting! Thanks for reading, and I will be jumping right in; in fact I figured I'd post a photo with my introduction:

Hello Matt and welcome to BPN! Our stories are somewhat similar as I started in the 70's and drifted away from my camera focusing on a music career instead. About 10 years ago I got back into it and and have never been more happy to be out shooting again. I am 51 and decided to trade in my "real job" for my "real passion and just do the best I can with it financially, again I couldn't be more happy. So I wish you the best and always encourage to do what you love! Keep an open mind here to critiques and I guarantee you will learn something and improve your photography as well.
