    Default Red-eyed vireo

Went to Lake Draper today to see what I could find. This is a new species for me.

    Duane:

I think the "spotlight" on the eye is wonderful. Soft background, nice colors. My only wish was to get rid of the stick above the birds back. Nice image.

    Duane,

Fine capture of a very tough subject. Your image shows this vireo right where it lives.

I too like the light on the eye. You handled the dappled light well. The branch along the back is distracting however but may have been the best you could do hereif the bird was not kind and move up a little to block it. BG works well.

Really well done, Duane. If you felt comfortable removing the stick behind your subject, I think it would be a very big improvement. I like the composition, the look and texture of the background, as well as the pose of your subject.

Terrific photo for all of the reasons mentioned in above posts. Easy to clone out the upper branch if you don't mind doing that sort of thing.

Wonderful shot, it's amazing that you even managed to get a shot at all of these lovely birds.
