    Default Black on Blue

Clicked this Cormorant some time back, today i looked at this folder and thought of processing this.
Originally the image was landscape mode however i felt the vertical composition may look better on this one,

Excellent detailed feathers Vishal, love the head turned towards you and the colours in the BG. Vertical comp works very nicely here.

    Vishal:

Simple, very clean, excellent feather detail, and agree about crop, because of the head angle.

Did you do anything special in the post processing to bring out the feather detail. It looks great.

    Cheers

Lovely pose from this Cormie. Nice complimentary colors too. Feather detail looks good as well. (love that about these guys!) Just wondering about the differences I see in the ones in my area...ours have a turquoise eye and yellow around the mouth. At this size, I can't see what color the eye is, and am curious.

This is a lovely, simple image with terrific detail.
Love the iridescence on the feathers and the head turn. Perch is OK ?manmade
I also really like the shade of blue in the BG that matches the patch on the bill,
    Gail

Wonderful! Love the detail in the bird! Is it that light color, or did you bring up the brightness? If so, that's not a criticism -- just good processing, to me. Could be just the light on iridescent feathers.

Amazing how they can grab a small perch with those swim fins on their feet.

Vertical composition was a good choice, Vishal. I really like the feather details, pose and head turn. Excellent work.

    Thanks Randy,
There is nothing done in post to get the feather details out, this guy is at a slight angle forward tail to neck and then the head turns back and i am in a boat at a slight heigher level that made the back at an angle to the sun, i have always seen it this way when the back is angled to the sun, if its flat its a nightmare exposing the back kills each time

I think this is a little cormorant , hence the black eye and the white patch on the throat and lighter black as it is non breeding individual. The Indian Cormorant has the green eye .

    Gail,

The perch is man made for sure, its a wooden stump that is in water for tying the small wooden boats used by fishermen in the area.

    Diane,
The colour looks this light in the non breeding it gets more dark black when the breeding season comes in and the white patch on the throat also disappears

Hi Vishal, love the pose and HA, and a vertical was the only way to go here. You have nailed the exposure on this fellow, and the green sheen really stands out on the plumage. Nicely separated from the water BG.

Very appealing! The subject looks great and has a perfect head angle, and there is just enough marbling in the BG to make it interesting. I could see the subject a little less tucked to the side.

Very nice Vishal. Awesome detail in the blacks and the detail and clairity in the feathers is very nice. The pose and BG set this one off. Great job!

Every thing has been said about this wonderful image.
Would crop on the left ,bottom and add on the silver line on the RHS.
    Excellent image.
