I was waiting for flight shots and got this one after it landed. Did not have time to change the settings as he was sticking out his tongue a lot.

I like the blushing colours, and the faint barring on the belly near the leg. Good vertical comp, I would only try to slightly darken the big pale area of the BG at left.

Great looking subject and the pose with the tongue sticking out is nice. The techs look perfect and the detail is wonderful. I like the soft colors on this shot. A different perch and a nice BG round off a pleasing frame. Agree with Daniel on the BG. Well done

Nice shot, I agree with christopher. I would change the composition a bit though, the bird more to the upper left corner and maybe extend canvas a bit, to have more room in the direction of the birds view.

I love the "sticking out my tongue at you" photo ops the woodpeckers do sometimes. Nice color, head turn and background. I like the comp as is.

Love that tongue sticking out!ISO 3200? Wow! Are you a Canon or Nikon guy?
Good comp but would like a sliver more on the left and to the top or bottom to keep nice vertical ratio.
    Excellent IQ as well,

Thank you all. The BG is the distance oak tree. This is the evening shoot, the position of the nest is not in my favor.

    Troy:
Agree with Daniel about white spots on bg, bird is excellent. As suggested, I might add a bit of canvas on left,at the risk of going a bit boxy on the crop.

    Cheers
