I love the B&W! The sky is perfect for this. Nice wing position and sharpness on
    the gull also.

The one thing I'm not sure on is the placement in the frame. I'm on a tiny laptop
screen, so I can't tell if he's to centered or not. Hopefully somebody else will jump
    in and comment.

This is a great subject for B/W. I think the position in the frame works well. I'm looking at this on a crummy monitor at work -- are the whites a bit hot on his back?

Bob, I generally prefer bird photography in color, but this works for me. Very well done. Comp and whites look fine to me, although if you had just a bit more on the bottom, you might try and see how that looks (just a little).

    Bob,

    This is really good....

Love the feel here...consider including more space underneath, moving the subject to the upper right hand corner and showing the loneness of flight or giving the image a stronger presence by including more habitat. The B&W processing and perfect background work for me...I like what you are trying to do here...well done.
