Canon 7D Canon 500mm f4 LIS & 1.4 TC Manual, ISO 500 1/1600 sec f6.3, image taken from my car. It has been pretty poor weather for bird photography the last few weeks so in desperation I set off down the road in the hope of getting a few shots of gulls.
All comments welcome.
I like the gull and love all the reds and pinks in the mouth, gape, and bill. The subject animation is also nice. This gull species is very difficult to find in Minnesota, especially in this plumage, so I'm a bit jealous as well. Not sure about the dandelion head, it almost look like the gull hacked it out as presented Beyond that though, there are some noticeable post processing issues with the bottom of the frame. I can see straight lines (canvas extensions?) and repetitious patterns of grass going across the screen (?), and then it looks like you put a blur down on top of that? So curious what took place with that...
Hi Jon, good angle shooting from the car, and well timed to capture both the calling and raised foot. Exposure looks good, and have to agree with Shawn regarding the bottom of the image.
Thanks for the feed back everyone, yes I have to agree the base of the image is a bit of a pig's ear! I added canvas and content aware was not appropriate - it looked stretched, I did various bits of cloning but the area available for cloning and patching was limited hence the repetition. It looks a lot worse now I look at it again - probably an image posted too hastily. I must do better
