    Ian,

Look at the foreground....specifically bottom right hand corner. What do you see..what grabs you eye in this image???

Jeff, if you're referring to the brown blob of muck, I see what you mean, but the light on the bird's face seemed good enough to draw the viewer's eye. Am I wrong?

Nice image with good sharpness in the eye. The big brown blob is OK for me, but I'd get rid of the smaller black blob.

Thanks, Diane. Do you mean the dark hole in the brown blob?

Yes -- didn't see it as a hole until you mentioned it. Now I can see it.

It did pull my attention, wondering what it was.

Great to see an adult Ian. We see mostly juvis here. For me I am drawn by the light tones- the face etc. Secondarily I went to the "blob" but then quickly started scanning the little green pants, which I like.

    Ian,

the blob in the foreground with and without the hole is a distraction...considering removing it. When we photograph a beautiful subject why have something in the foreground (which is where the eye enters the frame) to pull from the subject. Now..you are the photographer and control the frame...why was it included?

If the subject's interaction with the blob is the theme of the picture then too much negative space on top....

Ian...I am a fan of simple foregrounds and background and this only is only my opinion....thanks for sharing.
