Hi Morkel,
great image. I remember it was hard to get the little ones without mummy around or other eles distracting. You made here the best out of it. I like the conversion.
The front little chaps right leg looks more sharp than it's left leg. Might be wrong or it might be the blacks/contrast in the leg! You see it better on the big file!
Love the grass and dust flying just above the ground. Certainly was busy! Who is first on the water ?
Enjoy your weekend
Ciao

It works for me, and the other animals in the BG add to the story.

Hi Morkel, The small ones always tend to come out well if they can be isolated to be photographed. Like the sharpness of the small elephant as well as the excitement of the moment with the trunk curled and the raised ears.

Hi Morkel - I think this shows the chaos well. The low pov, as with all the images taken from the blind, adds greatly to the image. Conversion, sharpness and detail all look good to me. I do sort of wish the giraffe wasn't there on the rhs, not sure if cropping in tighter there will make it too tight.

Rachel

That will do nicely Morkel. My only thought would be to slightly darken the 'sliver' of vertical ear in the centre.

Thanks for your feedback, folks.
Steve, not sure which part you are referring to?

Basically my Curves in PS is set-up with quarter, half and three quarter tones. You adjust the mid tone to lighten or darken, mask and reveal for each part you need.
However, this is not the way I add mid tone, that is done with Calculations & Subtractions within each layer as I mentioned before.

You've still got me dazed and confused, Steve
Fractions of tones?
And what kind of "calculations"?

Amazing image! I leave for Kruger and Botswana next month any recommendations on what gear to bring? As of now 14-24mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm, 200-400mm all with a D3s and D800 is what will be in the bag.

Hey there. That kit should be sufficient for most of your wildlife shooting. It's pretty much my kit except I have the 500mm instead of the 200-400mm.
Have a good trip!

Thanks Morkel appreciate your response almost was bringing the 600mm but thought or might be overkill.
