Black-naped Tern chick and parent, Singapore. Taken in the open sea, plenty of light, opted for higher SS and DOF due to rocking boat, handheld.

    Interesting image
Like the title , the exposure is nice except some points on top where the whites get a bit hot
Also i may crop a bit of the bottom there is a too much of the OOF foreground to my taste

Quite a lovely moment, and image. Great work on the exposure; the white tern really pops against the BG. I'd be tempted to take even more off the bottom.

    Troy:

Agree with Bill and Vishal, and would crop from bottom, with a balancing crop on top possibly

Nice bg, well exposed, nice head angle on adult.

Hope to see more from your trip.

    Cheers

Disagree on the WHITEs. Though there is only some clipping the WHITEs on the neck are pretty much detail-less with RGB values right around 252. I prefer to bring my whites out of camera to be no greater than 230-235.... As it looks as if it were sunny 1/2000, f/10, ISO800 is a huge over-exposure. Getting the exposure right and getting a few inches higher would have helped a lot. I do like the juxtaposition of the adult and the chick.

Cool species...nice to see the different varieties of terns around the world. Your title is perfect. The visual impact of the white rock is pretty dominate here. I wonder what cropping a bit off the bottom and left hand side might be like, in regards to that....Great work from a rocking boat!

Thank you all for the inputs. Those are something I missed for sure.
