Default Parent piping plover with 2 chicks

I previously posted an image with chicks under the parent. This image was taken the same morning. There had been two chicks under the parent and one popped out. Usually, the chicks start running as soon as they pop out but this one looked at me for second before running.

    D7100, 600VR with 1.4 tc. 1/1250, f/11, iso 1000. I ran a bit of bg nr.

Allan, prefer this one over the last one, much better, enough room on the bottom.

This shot is fantastic as far as IQ, pose(s), light and details are concerned, Allan.
The only thing I might change is; adding a little canvas to the top.

Sweet image, Allan. Terrific poses from both birds, great light and color, and detail. Well done.

Hi Allan- Wonderful image. I was just out two days ago at a plover beach but never saw the parents to this. Great juxtaposition of the adult and chick, with a humorous note provided by the bodiless legs!

I know the image was made in the morning but I wonder if there's not a little too much warmth to the tones?

    Allan:

Very sweet, nice interaction, extra chick under wing a plus, nice light, excellent IQ.

I am okay with the cropping, but am known to be fond of pano crops.

    Cheers

Beautiful light, beautiful birds. Sharp as can be. I just wish that there had been some room between the exposed chick and what looks to be Dad.

Absolutely beautiful. And very cool imo. Great head angles and eye contact from the chick and adult. Processing looks very good.
Would not change a thing on this one.

Lovely light, moment and angle. How are you finding the D7100, Allan?

I will add some canvas to the top. I tend to keep cropping to bring attention to the subjects (don't like empty space) but perhaps I go too far at times.

I agree it would be better if the chick had been a tiny bit farther away. I looked back at other images in this sequence but no fit the bill. I chose this one for best posture and eye contact.

I like the D7100 for now - IQ is good and I need reach. I usually shoot with a 1.4tc on my 600 mm or with a zoom cranked to its max. That being said it wish the frame rate was a bit faster, wish it had a larger buffer, and would like the body to be larger. It would be nice if I could use the shutter release from my D800E.

I did not buy a grip as this is a camera I hope to use only till Nikon makes a D400. It is the best Nikon DX camera now being made.
