Shot this gal yesterday morning at the treatment plant while I was shooting stilts. She came in out of nowhere but she came right into the perfect sun angle and lit right in front of me. Growing up here in the midsouth on a major flyway, you'd think we have opportunities to shoot ducks all the time. However, due to heavy hunting our wild ducks are one of the hardest birds to get close to here. So, I was thrilled to have this opportunity. Image cropped for comp, water cleanup done, and a sliver of canvas added to the bottom. All C&C welcome.

This is awesome! Love the timing and the calm water just outside the splash. At first glance I thought the bird was sitting on a spit of grass.

Lovely exposure and love the way this is captured
i am glad you kept the full reflection adds a lot to the image
The only thing to my eye that i found the bird t the right and facing out of the image so thought it being more centred may be interesting , i have attempted a rough bit here

Hi Lyle, I much prefer the composition in the original post. But the image is not level.... I used the John Haedo fill in the canvas trick after leveling the base of the splash and then cropped to 3X2.

Awesome landing pose, and the original composition is my preference due to it's focus on the water/splash line created by the duck's landing. Artie's slight rework has made the image even better from a comp standpoint.

Artie, you are of course correct that the image wasn't level. Thanks everyone for your feedback.
