This female was wanting a banana but as there was another male next to her she was looking on with fear. Toque Macaque monkeys are endemic to Sri Lanka, taken at Sigiriya.

D700 200-400mm F4 @ 400mm F5.6 1/400 ISO400 handheld. image is 70% of original, in PS, levels, curves adjusted, blueish cast on body taken out, NR to background and sharpened.

    Appreciate critiques and comments.

    Thanks,

    Hiran

Hi Hiran, firstly have you calibrated you monitor recently and or, are you using a laptop? The reason I ask is that the image is way too dark and the blacks are showing clipping. So firstly, may I suggest you calibrate your monitor and make sure when you are processing your images, light is not coming from behind you and hitting the screen.

This link may also be of help if you have not seen/read it.

If you get the blacks right then you can adjust whatever else is required, it's just way too much and killing any detail in the darker/shadow areas, look at the ear, hands & feet. There is also the Blue too that needs to be corrected also, this will be more evident when you correct the blacks I hope. You say this is a crop, therefore, if you have it then more room below, it's a wee bit tight to the feet as presented. If you had the time, then shooting landscape too might have given you a better option, as hopefully the tail would not have been cut off, easy to do in the heat of the moment. Saying all that, I do like the posture and facial expression.

If you do calibrate your computer, I know it might be tedious, but I would start from scratch again with the RAW to maximise your image potential, it's the best way IMHO.

This was from your OP, not ideal, but hopefully may give you some pointers, the blacks are still choking key parts sadly, but...

    Good luck.

Hi Steve, I tried to straighten the foot and also eliminate the bottom right uneven surface in my OP but now have kept it as taken in the re-post. My screen
seems okay on my desktop and maybe was too engrossed in the picture that the dark areas did not seem as bad until you opened my eyes to it.

From the RAW image have redone this and the bright pink color on the face is similar to what I saw and maybe was a bit brighter. Hope this RP is better.

Thank you for your time to advice and comment.

The Resting Leopard picture I posted sometime back has been picked as the wildlife, image of the week, I am so happy I did think this image was a winner.

Hi Hiran that is looking better.

As no one else appears to have any thoughts, I have sent you some additional adjustments to try, think it will help and something you can use in other images perhaps, but just be careful.

Be interested to see a RP.

Well deserved, it's a lovely image, keep the hard work going and posting, I'm sure there is more to come from you.

Hi Steve, I have taken out the blueish tint on the chest and also made the dark colors lighter.

This now seems okay to me.

    Thanks

Hi Hiran - nice to see something a little different and Steve's suggestions have certainly improved the image a great deal. Your final rp still seems a bit flat so maybe a levels adjustment bringing the right slider in significantly and then a curves adjustment to increase the contrast.

    Rachel
