Good feather detail, maybe a bit over exposed. What exposure setting are you using?, evaluative? I find this the most difficult to get right with BIF as the camera will expose for the sky and then the bird is under exposed. Setting the exp comp to +1 or higher burns out the sky details but in PP you could select the bird and adjust shadows & highlights on the sky. I am writing this and hoping others can chime in with there advice.

Thanks Joe and Brian
Forgot to put Manual Exposure and Handheld
Evaluative being used; Ec +1.66 - difficult with camera pointing to light source from left.
I am sat in shade, birds approach from in front of me with strong light from their right.
You can see from this post , she has turned to her left so I am pleased with the shot
For high key type sky burnout is normal isnt it?

Hi Richard!
Back to Castro Verde? You've done well with difficult light, but I think the body of the bird behind the wing is a bit too blown, as with some of the wing detail - you want to avoid that if you can. You might be able to fake it in PP, but I don't think that will give you much pleasure!
The light is better in Mertola! I can give you the location details if you wish.
Best wishes,
Gerald
