    Default Great Thick Knee

    Attached Images Attached Images

Made at the Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, Mysore.
Not the ideal head angle as some might opine & the shadow in the eye doesn’t help either.
    Made with a Canon 450D + Sigma 150 – 500. Handheld from drifting boat.
    Exif : F8, ISO 200, SS 1/320 @ 500mm. Aperture Priority / Eval.
Crop / USM / NR on BG / Cloned out a small piece of OOF rock in LLC.

    Comments & critiques most welcome.

That is quite a bill. I don't mind the shadow on the eye, but I agree that a bit of head turn would have helped. Still, it's a lovely capture of a bird I've never seen. Great feather detail. I'd be tempted to tone down the brightness on the rock, and maybe the bright spot in the ULC.

Ditto about head turn, spot in upper left corner, and toning down the perch. I would also boost the saturation as the colours seem muted. Lovely details and good composition.

Wonderful detail, especially for hand-held from a boat at that focal length. The eye shadow and head angle work fine for me. Agree with the above suggestions. I might crop a little from the left.

Hi Girish, super pose and asking for a slightly better HA. I like how the thick knee stands out against the darker BG, and agree, blending in the spots in the ULC wont harm the image.

Lovely pose and sharp detail, very nice subdued tones to the backdrop..yes to cloning out the brighter spots in to top left. Just enough rock to make a good sized natural perch. Myself I like the direct side on posture as it is, with such slow shutter speeds it may of rendered the tip of the beak slightly out of focus is it's head was turned more towards the camera.....maybe ?
