Bombay Hook NWR, Shearness Pool; 2013-06-15, 07:00am
Canon 7D; 500mm F/4; Stabilized on a beanbag
F/7.1, 1/1600, ISO 400
LR4: Cropping, Some sharpening, Toning: Notably reduced highlights to bring out details in the egret
Interested in others thoughts on cropping. I'd have to add canvas to get more room on the right.

Hi Jerry! Great sensation of motion with the wing position like that and you were able to separate him from the line of the shore. I'd be tempted to clone or crop out that bright brown area in the water at the viewer's far left.
Hi Jerry, I do think the room in front of the bird is sufficient but would have been better if there was more space below. Love the exposure to get the fine detail in the white to stand out. If it was mine I would run a Noise reduction to the background.
crop reminds me of the top of the local section of the news journal. nice detail in the highlight, shadow across the bird is a bit distracting, otherwise i like it. thumbs up/
Thanks to all for the great suggestions. I learn lots from these replies.
@JustinSchnee, "crop reminds me of the top of the local section of the news journal" Are we neighbors? I often times submit shots for the Wilmington (Delaware) News Journal "Panorama" They request a 10x2 crop which can be challenging.
Hi Jerry....Your image looks good to me . I would agree that the room on the right is sufficient but the brown spot on the left should go!
BTW...I found the stilt and chicks , but could not find the owl...Is the box you mentioned just past the corn crib .... a duck box or bird nest box?
