    Default Poppy

I traveled with my husband to southern Colorado and planned to photograph alpine wildflowers while he attended a weekend Wilderness workshop. Lo and behold, spring had not yet sprung there! Back in town I found a wind-bedraggled bed of poppies next to a run-down, abandoned shed. I took one poppy back to my hotel and photographed from just inside my ground floor room, trying to find shelter from the wind. The whitish bkgd is a cement walk. Actually I had a great time experimenting with this high-key look. I added a bit of Topaz buz sim, a bit of Pixel Bender and a bit of Fractalius. Finished off with image borders from Nik Efex Pro.

Could pass for an O'Keeffe. I'd remove the tiny bit of steam at the bottom and print it HUGE.

Lovely, Nancy. Beautiful bold colors. I agree about evicting the bit of stem.

I wondered about the stem. Easy to get rid of!

The colours and the detail are great. I must say I am in agreement about the stem. Why detract from such a beautiful image?

It's not easy being green. Poor, unloved stem... Well, I'm sure it will find a good home in the bit bucket anyway! Really strong colors look great against the bright background. I like the bit of random arrangement of some of the stamens.

Hi, Nancy, I love the colors and the high key - defnitely O'Keefe-ish. Nice combination of subtle filters also. Another vote for stem eviction
