This is awesome!! I love the selective lighting, the black bkgd, the opposing & dynamic positions of the two animals, and the very expressive eyes!

Thank you Nancy and Jackie for your kind comments and for taking the time to view. This image was taken early morning, the sun was barely rising and the light not so good, therefore the high ISO. At the time I pointed the lens at the buffalo (there was a whole herd and some young among them too) they were all standing still, in fact I got somehow "trapped" between them but they were calm and just staring at the vehicle. I was trying to find a more interesting character to aim at, hoping the low shutter speed would be sufficient. Suddenly this male started courting with the female next to him, so I took a few quick shots trying to capture the expression on his face. The scene was so busy that I had to eliminate the other characters in the BG and the only way I could think of was to darken the surroundings. I desaturated in Lightroom and did some vignetting, then I moved the image to Photoshop and experimented with every possible tool to see what I could achieve. A few rounds of sharpening helped a bit but I still wish I had a sharper image to begin with.

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Gabriela, strong image and great processing. I love the chiaroscuro look also, it is one of my favorite shooting effects. Very well done with the field technique as well.

Hi, Gabriela, nice to see you in OOTB. This is a lovely image and as Jackie and Kerry have noted it is a beautiful chiaroscuro image (and they both do wonderful ones so that's a nice compliment). You did a great job with your post production and the lighting is wonderful. I hope to see more of your images here

Dear Cheryl-I am humbled by the comments I received so far-all I did was play with this image a bit in Lightroom and then Photoshop, had no plan whatsoever yet miraculously ended up with something that grabbed your attention Many thanks for your encouragement, I truly appreciate it!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
