Not long ago I posted an image of a female Hairy Woodpecker feeding a juvie. This time its a male Downy Woodpecker, feeding a juvenile male. Try as I might, I could not get an image showing the eyes of both birds at the moment of feeding. Lots of feeding activity going on around my feeders this past few weeks. I suspect this perch is starting to look familiar to some of you.

Super behavior captured, Bill!!!! You were able to capture the differences between the red on the adult vs the fledgling's head. The whites are looking a bit muddy to me, and I think they could use a slight boost. I would also add a tad to the bottom if you have it. Love all the texture in the tree and the fact that you were able to capture the handoff is pretty spectacular.

    Happy Father's Day to you!!!

Good image for posting on Father's Day. Nice behavior shot. I don't mind not having the eye contact on the second bird, it is just part of nature.

Nice image for Fathers Day! . Great detail and color, I agree with Marina about the whites, needs just a tad of boost. Overall awesome capture

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Here's a repost with the birds just a little higher in the frame to give some room beneath. (Hopefully I still left enough on top.) I've also brightened the whites. I think I had reduced the highlights on the trunk in the OP, not paying attention what it had done to the whites on the birds. Here the brightest areas are pushing into the upper 230's. A little more pop. I appreciate the suggestions.

Hi Bill, well timed here, and also well exposed on both woodpeckers. Love the interesting detail on the tree trunk.
