    Default Fallen Petals

I spent many days photographing a bouquet of tulips and eventually the petals started falling. They were still beautiful and so I photographed them. For this image I used Pixel Bender at a low opacity to add softness. Then a bkgd texture at reduced opacity. After playing around in Topaz Adjust 5 I liked the HDR medium pop smooth effect. I guess my fingers were still twitchy on the computer and I continued to experiment with more effects. I added a layer of light fractalius and finished with a border from Nik color efex pro.

Hi Nancy, this is just beautiful! I just love the fluidity of the petals and the colors are simply awesome! The bg and framing works well. Excellent choice of filters and processing!

The colours and softness are very beautiful. I like the one petal that is different from the others, it gives added interest to me.

What beautiful colors! I love the 3d look to the petals and the slight texture to the BG. Personally I would lighten the dark spot on the one petal so it doesn't stand out as much, and also add a little more room on the bottom so the bottom petal isn't touching the edge. Very nicely seen and processed!

Thank you all! Christopher, since I know that "dark spot" on the petal is a fallen anther from the interior of the flower only now it occurs to me that it might just look like a "dark spot" to everyone else. And I didn't notice that bottom petal touching the edge until I was all done. I think I let the border bleed too much into the image. I would change that if I did it over.

Nancy, the image is lovely. I agree with Christopher's comments re the edge although I kind of like the dark spot and like it more now that I know it's an anther. The first thing I thought of when I saw this was "corn candy"

I love the processing and colors, and the petals look fantastic. I like the dark spot and think it adds interest!
