    Default Fairy Shrimp

Fairy Shrimp (Order Anostraca) are typically found in small, shallow ponds in the spring. They usually swim horizontally with their ventral side facing upward, but this one was positioned vertically and we are viewing its ventral side. (I had no idea that these small, almost translucent creatures could be so colorful.) 2.5 gallon aquarium setup, 1D IV, 100 mm macro, 1/160, f/16, ISO 100, 2 remotely fired 430EX flashes (diffused), HH, AF. This is the last image with the dreaded blue background. I left in a few of the floating bits of debris in the water. All comments are welcome and appreciated

Again a super image, idyllic lighting showing intestinal tract, excellent DOF, I think the fine detritus in the water is just right, it is barely there - doesn't hamper viewing but it looks real.

Amazing creature! Looks like it was shot with a microscope.
