    Default Adelaide Rosella Portrait

    Attached Images Attached Images

Recent one of this Rosella species that resides pretty much only around the Adelaide region....hence the name. Essentially it is a Crimson Rosella common to the eastern states, but slightly different coloring with the chest being orange rather than crimson { not shown here ]

Cropped to portrait as it's legs/feet were lost in branches so didn't wish to keep it as a full image

Canon 7D + 500 f4....f6.3, 1/1600, ISO 800, no flash, manual exposure mode, tripod mounted....cropped and added brightness, selective sharpen

Very nice looking rosella! nice light and colours. I would suggest to crop more on top but trying to maintain the 2:3 ratio.

I can't believe you have birds like this flying around where you can photograph them.
Super details and crop, would not change a thing.

Super portrait with lovely colors and angle. I would crop a tad from the top.

Wonderful portrait! Techs and colors look great!

Nice comp horizontally but agree about less on top.

Thanks Dan......not as easy tp photograph as one may think, they are relatively common, but very shy, a lot of predation by cats and foxes and invasion of the pest Noisy Miners. Over approx 4 years I think I have only managed about 4 keeper shots after hundreds of attempts. I don't use baits or feeders, although a feeder would likely work in an area they frequent. Calls will not work on these birds, as is the case with most of the Parrot species, just perseverance and luck on the day.
