Grey-headed Honeyeater
This is an arid-zone honeyeater here in Australia.

Thanks, Greg.

Wow, thats a very nice image. Background is very nice. Unfortunate about the OOF tail. I may have cloned out the branch bottom right but the rest I am fine with
I am using the 300f4 with the same TC and really feel I am missing the VR for these small perched birds. Can I ask you how low you can go with the SS and still get sharp pictures on that combo?
Thanks for sharing

Hi Shane, thanks for the comments. I find I can normally get a sharp image down to 1/50 - 1/100, but rarely have to go that low due to the superb ISO capabilities of the D800. Having said that, the VR really is essential in most situations though,
Cheers Greg

Wow, i need to get myself one of those. I am finding anything under 1/640 handheld a nightmare and it really affects lowlight shots early morning and late evening.
Thanks a lot for the info ;)

The comp and all the foliage sharp really makes this nice.
Nice fieldcraft getting this small bird at 500mm, although at iso280 (should that be 250 or do you use auto iso?).
with the D800 this might be a large crop and one would not know.....
