    Getting back into shooting birds after a gap of almost 2 years so I hope this one is decent. Great white egret landing in late evening light. Please let me know what you guys think.

    Device: Nikon D90
    Lens: 300mm f/4D
    Focal Length: 420mm
    Focus Mode: AF-A
    AF-Area Mode: 3D-tracking

    nice light and landing pose, there is some motion blur in the head and a sharpening halo around the bird. good exposure

    nice landing pose but is that not a white egret and not a white heron?

    Yep, that is a Great Egret in breeding plumage you got here. Very nice landing pose you got here and I like the thin perch. Beautiful light! I agree with Arash's assessment, cranking the ISO up to 400 would have given you 1/2500 and likely enough to freeze the face fully. I would have liked to have seen a bit more room in front of the subject.

    Great landing pose.
    Exposed very well and very nice light.
    A tad more room in front would be nice.
