Default Arctic Tern - World's Long Distance Flyer

    Attached Images Attached Images

Sitting here in Aurora Inn in Nome, Alaska. Pouring rain outside and 39 degrees. Fly out tomorrow to Gambell, Alaska for 10 days and better weather I hope.

This image taken at the Potter Marsh in Anchorage, Alaska. There were Arctic Terns everywhere, they have just flown 12000 miles from Antarctic. This was my best banking shot.

Ran the image through Fotosketcher, framed and cropped to suit. Ciao for now, no Wifi for 10 days gonna be tough....

I like this Fotosketcher look. The paint daub-like bkgd is wonderfully organic and the colors really set off the whites of the tern. Rain & 39 degrees sounds miserable. When I was last in Nome it was so unseasonably hot that many of us cut the sleeves off our winter shirts to tolerate it! Gambell should be great and I look forward to hearing how it went.

Paul, I love the look and I think Arctic terns are amazing. Your weather sounds less than stellar - hope the next leg of your journey is perfect weather (at least for photography)

Nice flight shot Paul, and I like the catchlight in the eye. The BG is very painterly. 10 days w/o internet! Good luck, I hope the weather improves for you!

Really nice Paul! Love these terns. I know you're busy, see you on the other side!

Nice pose, Paul, and I like the painterly BG. Personally I would crop it on the top and left so that the tern is closer to the upper right corner. Enjoy the rest of your trip, and hope you get better weather!
