    Default Squabbling Drongos

    Attached Images Attached Images

    Camera Canon EOS 7D
    Exposure (1/800)
    Aperture f/6.3
    Focal Length 500 mm
    ISO Speed 160
    Exposure Bias +1/3 EV
    Flash Off, Did not fire
The image was grossly under exposed, I should have pushed it to +1EC or more, but I tried to recover as much detail as i could in DPP and PS CS5. Hope the image is worth it...

Sanjeev....underexposed perhaps but I think you have good enough detail in the birds bodies and the eyes and heads look very good to me. I would clone out the leaf closet to the birds head on the right and the lowest bud. Nice capture of this behavior!. To bring out more detail in the bodies you might try making a copy layer and giving it a screen blend mode. This will lighten everything! Then make a black mask to hide the effect and then paint back where you would like it lighter. You can then use opacity slider to fine tune. I have used this technique several times with good results.

    Sanjeev,

I agree with Bob's comments you can do more with this in post production (e.g., shadows and highlights and levels). Actually a nice picture given the meter madness on the exposure. The main subject has good a good eye and blocking some of the darks are alright...the distracting elements in the right hand side of the frame should be addressed especially the branch entering the frame from the top...

Nice job capturing two subjects not an easy task...keep em coming!!

One more thing: was this eval metering?
