I got a rare opportunity to capture a Spoonbill with her young. There were three juveniles. and they were ungracefully falling all over each other, Many of the shots had wing clipping but more to my disliking was a horrid, busy, contrast Mangrove tree background, One Juvenile was painted out, as well as most of the b/g.

I love the awkward poses and the almost-symmetry of the juveniles. The dark BG works for me but I see some problem areas along the left border and one spot in the left center. If possible, it would be good to separate the dark wingtip feathers and one foot from the BG.

Cloning in dark areas can be problematic. I have written a tutorial on a method that I find valuable:

There are a number of tutorials on various aspects of the digital darkroom on my web site.

Thanks for the critique Diane, I checked out your tutorial, Thanks for attaching it. It should be very helpful as I have a spray of photos like this that I need to discard or change the background.

Robert, I like what you did with the background. Like Diane said, there were some missed areas, but easy fix. I also like the poses and "drama" of the image you created. I would lighten the shadows on the birds some to bring back their color. Looks very muted on my monitor. Here's a quick edit to see if you can tell the difference.

Robert...I like this shot. The black bg works for me even though it is unnatural...Jeanann's repost looks a bit better. Nice work on this and super capture!
