I've been visiting the Delaware coast for the past 10 days watching and photographing the amazing horseshoe crab/shorebird migration spectacle. In addition to photographing the birds, I was excited to find this large snapping turtle at the Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge very early one morning. I found the green leaf on his head charming! I laid on the ground to take the images and found that at a certain distance he would start to pull in his head and legs. So of course, I gave him his space and marveled at the way nature put him together, wrinkled skin and all!
